Milk Bath

"We all suffer from blotchy skin and blackheads at some time in our life. What we often don't realize is that these annoying skin problems are frequently caused by clogged pores and there is a simple, easy, and healthy remedy.

Cleopatra, often lauded as one of the most beautiful women in history, knew a simple beauty secret that anyone can take advantage of. She maintained her soft skin by taking a milk bath every day.

Milk contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that dissolves the “glue” that holds your dead skin cells to your body. The lactic acid that can be found in milk and yogurt acts as a gentle exfoliant.

Exfoliation is the process of removing the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal the softer tissue underneath. If the dead cells are not removed, they tend to clog your pores, which can lead to blotchy looking skin and blackheads. Since the average person creates a new layer of skin every two to four weeks, you can improve your complexion immensely by simply exfoliating on a regular basis.

Procedure:

 

Making your own milk bath is simple and quick. Add 2-4 cups of milk or buttermilk to a warm bath, soak for 20 minutes or so, and scrub the loosened skin cells away from your body with a washcloth or loofah in soft, circular motions. You will need to be extra gentle with delicate areas of your skin such as your neck and thigh to avoid abrasion burns.

When you are finished, rinse the milk from your body thoroughly with a quick shower and wipe the oils from the tub while they are easy to remove.

After your beauty bath, you may notice your skin is slightly oily. That is normal. It's simply the natural moisturizing effect of the milk. Exfoliating your skin too often can dry it out and the natural oils in milk will help keep your skin moisturized, making your milk bath the perfect beauty treatment for creating supple baby-soft skin."

Well I've been doing this since last summer. It really makes my skin soft and supple. Plus, it's very refreshing. Kaya lang milk is expensive. In my opinion. I'm not yet earning my own money, so I really have to be resourceful and budget my allowance as much as possible. I would buy a medium sized can of Nido powdered milk. Sometimes bearbrand, sometimes alaska. Any powdered milk would do. Then I'd add four scoops to five scoops of milk to a small pail and mix it with water. When we have honey available, I'd add a spoon full.

It's my huling banlaw. Afterwards, I'd pat myself dry and put oil all over my skin. 

I could say my skin glows 'cause my crush praised me about it. :">

I'm not super fair, but my glowing skin makes me look one.

Oh and btw, I do the four scoops before I go to bed. 

In day time, I only mix a scoop of powdered milk.

In my generation, girls as young as 13 years old are pretty much experienced with make-up already.

I'm sort of a tomboy so I'm not that interested in getting "dolled up." 

I don't brush my hair, I like getting dirty and I don't care if I get zits.
